REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHY:

Carefully read the specifications of the photograph required for the process of applying for a machine-readable passport. If the application does not meet the requirements, the application will not be accepted at the Consulate and the applicant must send new photographs. Verify that the photograph strictly complies with the characteristics below:

  1. Two photographs taken in the last 6 months (5 x 5 cm.) by each applicant, regardless of age, taken on a white background, facing the camera directly, with the ears exposed;

  2. The face should be COMPLETELY CLEAR, without hair covering it; especially the forehead should be fully visible, removing fringes from it.

  3. If you wear glasses, you should remove them and your head should be uncovered, without wearing caps, scarves, or turbans (unless the applicant’s religion forbids it).

  4. The face should cover 50 percent of the area of the photograph from the neck up. The image of the face, measured from the base of the chin to the top of the head including the hair, should not be less than 2.5cm and not more than 3.4cm. (1'10" up to 1'38").

  5. The photo should look sharp, with very good contrast. Photos too clear, blurred, with shadows on the background of the photograph or on the face, or with excessive brightness, will be rejected. Avoid using "home" photos or non-photographic paper.

THE CHILDREN:

The above rules also apply to children of any age.

The photograph of very young children cannot show, even in part, the person who supports them or their hands. If you still need to hold their head it is advisable to take the photo lying on a white and smooth background so that no shadow appears in the photograph.

RECOMMENDATION:

To avoid unnecessary travel and expenses, check your photos carefully before paying for them and DO NOT ALLOW ANY EXCUSE if you do not agree or do not meet the requirements you have requested. Each country determines the requirements of photographs for documentation. It is the photographer who has to adapt to what the client requests and not the other way around.
